Welcome to our practice! We believe that a gentle, low stress environment goes hand in hand (and hand in paw) with great medical care. Keeping your pet happy and comfortable during their visit with us is a priority. We are happy to take extra time and care with anxious or nervous pets (or their people), and always practice proactive pain management. We are proud to be the only Gold certified Cat Friendly Practice in Petaluma. As an AAHA certified hospital, we offer the highest standards of care for your pet. Dr. Yvonne Stemwedel is a board certified specialist in Canine and Feline Practice through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.
We invite you to take a little tour of our hospital and see our team in action:
Dr. Yvonne Stemwedel is the proud owner of Adobe Animal Hospital. She graduated from UC Davis Veterinary School in 1994. She purchased Adobe in 2011 and oversaw the construction of and the move into our new state of the art hospital building in 2016.
Chances are she won’t mention it, but Dr. Stemwedel is one of a very small group of specialists who earn the Diplomate title from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. ABVP Diplomates have to prove expertise above and beyond what is required to practice veterinary medicine. Additionally, she has earned the privilege to specialize in the treatment of dogs and cats.
Dr. Stemwedel has studied veterinary ultrasonography extensively and particularly enjoys this part of her practice. She and the team at Adobe also focus on veterinary dentistry. Together they have helped hundreds of pets to have healthy, pain-free mouths.
Dr. Stemwedel is committed to your pet’s well being. She is a Fear Free Certified Professional and certified in Low Stress Handling, and she made Adobe the first Cat Friendly Practice in Petaluma.
Dr. Matt Dekleva joined Adobe Animal Hospital in 2016. He is originally from Pennsylvania. He has a Masters degree in Animal Science and received his veterinary doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania. His previous experience includes emergency medicine and surgery, and he continues to pursue a special interest in surgery here at Adobe. Dr. Dekleva shares our passion for taking the very best care of your pets. Outside of work he can be found spending time with his family enjoying the great outdoors.
Dr. Katerina Kidwell graduated from UC Davis Veterinary School. She is a native Californian and raised goats and cattle in addition to her family pets. Her veterinary career has led her to special interests in internal medicine, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. Clients appreciate her communication skills, thoroughness, and calm rapport with their pets. Outside of the office she can be found cheering for her triplet sons’ (yes, that’s right) sports teams, hiking, and gardening.
Registered Veterinary Technicians are the heart of our patient care team. Becoming an RVT requires advanced studies in math, science, biology, and veterinary medicine, thousands of hours of training, passing rigorous licensing exams, and ongoing continuing education.
Our team of three Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) are an amazing group of professionals. They use their advanced skills every day to provide your pet with a safe and comfortable hospital visit. They are truly dedicated to caring for our clients and patients. Kristin has a degree in Animal Science from UC Davis. Nicole has undertaken advanced training to become a Technician Specialist in Dentistry. Molly is our team expert on feline behavior issues, puppy socialization, and low stress patient handling. You can rest assured that your pet will be in the very best of hands with this team.
